Whitby – England – Storybook – Moody – Historic

Arriving in Whitby in Yorkshire England at dusk presented the most beautiful colours to start snapping images of this historical seaside town. You have to love strolling through the streets at this hour when tourists are usually indoors or eating out. I’d rather go walkabout when the light is brilliant than sitting in a restaurant eating – I can do that anytime – but the … Continue reading Whitby – England – Storybook – Moody – Historic

Bath – Chimneys – Georgian – Roman Baths

Dominated by some of the finest Georgian architecture, Bath is World Heritage listed. Gorgeous pale Bath stone features strongly, covering a spectacular scenery It’s ancient Roman Baths adds to its beauty. What struck me were the number of chimneys in the city. Sibson – Telphone Box – Books – Recycling

I was looking for superman and I found books! Someone put an old telephone box to good use – making it into a mini library of sorts – filled with books and a community notice board. Now I don’t know the rules regarding ‘borrowing’ books – as there were no signs around. I guess its an honesty policy!!! Hmm I don’t think it would last … Continue reading Sibson – Telphone Box – Books – Recycling

Ashby de la Zouch – Castle – Stories – Treasure

Seeking the less travelled places with few tourists around always presents a surprise. Feeling like a five year old exploring in almost silence – learning its history.  A castle in Ashby de la Zouch nestled in England’s south is one of those stunning surprises. Oh the stories those walls could tell. Climbing up the 98 stairs in the tower is worth the effort – birds nest in the thick walled windows and … Continue reading Ashby de la Zouch – Castle – Stories – Treasure

4AM London – Empty – Quiet – Surreal

Wandering the streets at 4am is surreal in ways. Gone are the people who distract your vision – gone is the noise that disturbs your mind. You can just be in the moment and witness the sights alone. You wouldn’t want to bump into me at this time of morning. I usually jump out of bed, throw on the first garment my hands grab and scurry out … Continue reading 4AM London – Empty – Quiet – Surreal

Brick Lane – Edgy – Eclectic – Urban

Brick Lane is London’s little secret. Nestled in the edge of the city, Brick Lane offers much for your senses to feast upon. You can wander the street all day sampling its delights on the colourful food, urban shopping, people watching. Yet I found the graffiti hidden in the side streets the most fascinating on this particular day.                              … Continue reading Brick Lane – Edgy – Eclectic – Urban

Gloucester – Warehouses – Waterways – Adventure

Gloucester was a surprise. I’d briefly stopped overnight on my ancestry journey. As my mind was on visiting specific towns I had no knowledge or wanted to of this town. I did know it was not near the ocean – my Tom Tom showed me!  haha Yet there were many seagulls flying around – I had little head space to figure out why. The next … Continue reading Gloucester – Warehouses – Waterways – Adventure

London Underground – Efficient – active – mesmerising

You hear so much talk about London’s Tube being the only way to travel. I had images in my head of modern, sleek, fast trains – quite the contrary. More functional, efficient, drab.  However, buzzing around London’s complex rail system is an experience to remember. Watching all the people go underground on a daily basis and the trains moving them from place to place is mesmerising. I was also … Continue reading London Underground – Efficient – active – mesmerising
